There’s been a plethora of activity at goodfocus over the last several months. Lots of new work to consider and potential projects to explore. This past fall and winter has seen us busy completing three short films for the University of Southern Maine’s Teacher’s Education department, co-producing two short documentaries with PopTech (more to come there), donating creative juices and filmmaking skills to Restless Collective’s upcoming epic journey and embarking on a new fictional web series that combines a bit of Amelie, Pushing Daisies, Maestro and potato farm-life.
Through all of this we’ve found ourselves considering a number of interesting filmmaking conundra, including to contract, or not to contract, strict copyright vs. creative commons, is a project ever truly completed or simply abandoned (decreed completed) at an mutually agreed-upon moment in time, the nature of fiction vs. documentary vs. fictive reality, and why are good accountants so hard to find. Each of these topics will be addressed in turn over the next few weeks.
